On June 9, 2026, Macro Connect is proud to host the next 100 Businesses Who Care – Southeast Michigan meeting at our Detroit headquarters. This gathering brings together local business leaders who share a simple but powerful goal: to create meaningful impact in our community through collective giving and action.
For us, hosting this event is more than opening our doors—it’s a direct reflection of one of our core values: Care Deeply. For our team, Care Deeply means looking for ways to uplift our teammates, our clients, and the communities where we live and work—especially when working together can amplify or sustain impact.
As a Detroit‑based company, Macro Connect believes that strong businesses and strong communities are deeply connected. Because of our deep roots in serving public sector clients first-hand, we embrace how local nonprofits strengthen education, workforce development, family stability, and access to opportunity—often with limited resources and tremendous dedication.
Hosting 100 Businesses Who Care is one way we can help create space for business leaders to come together, learn about important community work, and take immediate, meaningful action. That’s Care Deeply in practice.
100 Businesses Who Care is a giving circle made up of top decision‑makers from companies across Southeast Michigan. The concept is intentionally simple:
When 100 businesses participate, that collective effort results in a $50,000 donation to a local nonprofit—twice each year!
The organization is entirely volunteer‑led, with 100% of donations going directly to the selected nonprofit. As of January 2026, the Southeast Michigan chapter has gifted over $625,400 to 17 local organizations, supporting critical work across our region.
Thanks to a generous $39,000 donation from 100 Businesses Who Care in 2021, First Step was able to make critical investments during an especially challenging and uncertain time, as the COVID-19 pandemic heightened health, safety, and funding concerns within communal living environments like shelter. These investments continue to support survivors of domestic and sexual violence across Wayne County today.
Specifically, the funding helped us purchase a 12-passenger van and a 6x12 trailer, significantly expanding our ability to respond to survivors’ needs in real time. Since then, we have provided transportation for over 260 clients, helping individuals and families safely access shelter, court, medical care, and essential resources - whether that’s getting a parent and their children to a court hearing, a medical appointment, or simply ensuring they can safely arrive at shelter in the first place. The larger van has been especially impactful for transporting families with multiple children and coordinating group outings like grocery trips and field trips to places like the Detroit Zoo. The addition of the trailer has increased our capacity to retrieve and distribute large donations, furnish homes, and assist with urgent moves when safety is at risk.
In addition, these funds supported increased cleaning and safety protocols, hotel stays for residents needing to quarantine during COVID-19, and expanded technology and security for staff and clients - investments that were essential to maintaining safe, uninterrupted services during the pandemic. Together, these investments strengthened our ability to provide safe, responsive, and comprehensive services. Because of 100 Businesses Who Care, First Step continues to offer free, life-saving support while helping survivors move toward safety, stability, and self-sufficiency.
First Step is a non-profit organization based in Wayne County, Michigan, dedicated to providing support for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Established in 1978, it offers a range of services including 24-hour crisis intervention, emergency shelter, counseling, and community education to help individuals and families affected by these crimes.
