Each quarter, GJC (George Johnson & Company), a certified CPA and public accounting and consulting firm in Detroit, hosts a non-profit CFO roundtable. They select topics critical to nonprofit financial leaders to focus on and facilitate a discussion among attendees.
Last quarter, the topics were less focused on financal topics, but on areas changing the way most organizations are conducting business: AI and cybersecurity. We were happy to co-host this event at Macro Connect!
In the first quarter of 2026, the topic returned to a classic one many non-profits struggle with: Cash Flow & Liquidity.
The group discussed many things, including:
Attendees shared their own stories, asked questions, and offered perspective for the rest of the group. Attendees were from local non-profits, small and large, banks who help to fund them, and financial and managmenet consultants who support them.
These events are faciliated by Erica Battle on GJC’s team. She has a particularly unique background to serve nonprofits. Not only does she specialize in serving nonprofits through tax, assest and CFO consulting at GJC, she’s worked directly for nonprofits in lead financial roles, such as Gilda’s Club, Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings, and most recently, Brilliant Detroit. She’s also dedicated herself as a volunteer to organizations like Signal Return, The Scarab Club, and Building Beds for Kids, among others, serving on their boards and offering financial and development support.
What’s up next for GJC? Coming in Quarter 2 is “The Non-Profit Tipping Point”.
What’s up next for Macro Connect? Our annual company meeting, MacroCon is on February 16. Otherwise, we look forward to hosting other group events such as this!
